At Orkla we take good quality and safe food seriously. We set stringent requirements for the way in which our raw materials must be cultivated, produced and transported.
Our guidelines are designed to ensure that ingredients, packaging and end products are safe to use. The same applies to our household products and product categories such as detergents, personal hygiene, textiles, paints and wound care. Customers and consumers must be able to count on receiving the same high quality every time. Orkla companies focus systematically on replacing ingredients that may have negative health and environmental impacts.
The Orkla logo on packaging is a guarantee that the product meets the Group’s strict food and product safety criteria. By adopting common standards and systems, we ensure good, cost-effective control of food safety risk in every part of our value chain.
Orkla Food Safety Standard
All our factories and warehouses that handle food and drink are subject to regular audits in accordance with the stringent requirements of the Orkla Food Safety Standard (OFSS), on which all Orkla’s food safety work is founded. The OFSS standard is based on the British Consortium Global Standard for Food Safety, and has been further developed by Orkla to cover risks that are important for our food manufacturing operations.
All the food products we launch have undergone a thorough risk assessment in the development process aimed at identifying and controlling potential health hazards related to packaging, ingredients and use. A separate standard has been introduced for Orkla’s sales and distribution companies. These companies are monitored through dedicated audits carried out by Orkla’s food safety team. In addition, we at Orkla require that all our suppliers comply with our strict guidelines for safe raw material production.
